So simply said and yet so relevant and inspiring ! The advice given by Jeff Weiner, LinkedIn CEO to the Wall street Journal website are full of wisdom and so elegantly expressed, I'm actually thinking of quoting him to respond to interview questions about Management!
I totally agree with him that a manager will always benefit from trying to help his team solve their problems by themselves instead of giving solutions or trying to find a status-quo. Even though more often than not, people are only looking for the boss to be the referee or to come up with THE answer. In those times, it takes time and a good amount of explanation/persuasion to convince them that they can succeed.
In complex organization, increasing managers' autonomy becomes crucial, as explained Yves Morieux in this article Smart Rules: Six Ways to Get People to Solve Problems Without You - Harvard Business Review.
I also totally relate to the bullet-point list method, which may look totally old-school but has been working wonders for me !
